Well, here I am.
Decartes proclaimed "I think therefore I am!" In the high tech world of bits and bites, we click "I blog therefore I think".
This is my first attempt at blogging. Excuse my stream of conscioussness style. What you are about to read is raw and real.
I gather from the news today that we live in troubling and important times. When have we lived in free and easy times? What we live in are complicated times. The complexities are driven by a variety of voices and media that were silent in generations past. Technology, access, economics, and a countless host of other factors have combined to add alot of noise to our informational environment. Like our own central nervous system that acts like a filter to dampen external stimuli, we must also filter the noise. Alot of what gets passed off as news or information is pure fairy tale. Maybe fairy tale is too kind, because often there is a teachable moment or lesson in a fairy tale.
People need to digest the information they get. Like your breakfast, you need to chew it up and swallow it. It needs to pass through your gut. Some of it will be acquired to build your body. Some of it will be discarded.
I call myself the "Discerning Democrat" after Bush II's pleas for my vote in '04. I voted for him in '00 as well. My party, formerly the party of the people , has lost its' way. Much of what they're putting out in terms of policy initiatives and leadership is pure junk food. And junk food, my friends, winds up in the toilet
